Accommodation Details
Forget fidgety nights with tents and sleeping bags... our comfy Wilderness Lodges promise a good night's rest on Fraser! The modern timber lodges are surrounded by gum trees, bush plants and native birds, so you'll still get your nature fix!
Each lodge has twin, double and quad-share bedrooms, all fully screened. Bedrooms have ceiling fans to keep you cool during summer and heating for those chilly winter nights. Linen, blankets and bath towels are provided and there are separate male and female bathrooms, each with two showers. Lodges have an open lounge area and kitchenette with tea& coffee making facilities. Ironing facilities are also available, and there's a coin-laundry nearby.
Twin/Double rooms are bookable on a request basis only. Every effort will be made to provide the requested room type, however, bed configuration cannot be guaranteed and, due to tight demand there is a strong possibility that you will be allocated a normal quad room with bunk bedding, but on a sole basis for two pax only.
Inclusions-2 night accom in the Wilderness Lodge, dorm or twin with shared facilities -3 x full-day guided 4WD tours on Fraser Island. -All meals as per itinerary. Buffet breakfasts and dinners with picnic lunches -Return ferry transfers to Fraser Island. -National Park Fees
Itinerary
Day 1– The Adventure Begins
Pick-up from your accommodation in Rainbow Beach before catching the barge across to Fraser Island from Inskip Point. You will meet your Cool Dingo Tour driver at Lake McKenzie.
-Tour to Basin Lake, perched high in the dunes
-Visit Central Station and the rainforest boardwalk
-See ancient King Ferns at Wanggoolba Creek and visit Pile Valley’s famous Satinay trees.
-Take a dip in Lake McKenzie– Fraser’s most photographed lake
Note: Pick-up from Rainbow Beach Hostels start at 7.30am
Day 2– Fraser’s Beautiful Beach Side
-Stroll along the boardwalk at Eli Creek
-Visit the Pinnacle Coloured Sands and learn about the local mythology
-Snap a pic at the wreck of the Maheno
-Climb Indian Head for Fraser’s most spectacular views
-Experience Mother Nature’s Jacuzzi at the Champagne Pools
Day 3– Great People, Great Memories
-Trek through the dunes to emerald-green Lake Wabby
-See Fraser’s shifting sands at Hammerstone Sandblow
-Enjoy a buffet lunch at Eurong Beach Resort
-Swim in the clear fresh waters of beautiful Lake Birrabeen
-Enjoy an optional Air Fraser joy flight and take off right from the beach
Note: After visiting Lake Wabby we stop at at Eurong Beach Resort for a comfort stop before we travel back to Rainbow Beach
Departures / Pickups
Pick-up from Rainbow Beach Hostels starts at 7.30am
Departure Time& Location
On your first day you will be picked up from your hostel in Rainbow Beach from 7.30am, from here we will drive up to Inskip Point to meet the barge to take us over to Fraser Island. Once on Fraser Island we will drive up the beach to Eurong Beach Resort and then cut across to Lake McKenzie where you will meet the rest of your group and guide/driver for the next 3 days.
On the final day the tour will head back to Rainbow Beach after a comfort stop at Eurong Beach Resort where you will join the transfer bus back down the beach. If you wish you can head to Hervey Bay on the 5pm ferry getting you back into Hervey Bay at 6.30pm (perfect if you are heading up to Airlie Beach). To head back to Hervey Bay please make sure that you mention this at the time of booking.
