Itinerary

DAY 1

Your guide will pick you up for your small group eco-adventure at 7.00am from the Adelaide Central Bus Station. Commence your wilderness journey by heading north via Port Germein to Alligator Gorge National Park for lunch, where you are greeted with spectacular views of the mountains and Spencer Gulf. We then venture towards Pt. Augusta and travel through the picturesque Pichi Richi Pass to Quorn (the start of the original Ghan Railway). Explore the deserted Willochra Plain on the way to the centre of the Flinders Ranges, stopping at the Yourambulla Caves where you can view Aboriginal art work. Enjoy a hearty meal and a good nights sleep in the natural setting of Rawnsley Park Station. No matter what accommodation you have chosen you will be welcomed to join a relaxing evening around the campfire.

DAY 2

Wake up to the call of the Kookaburra. Enjoy your breakfast and the morning view of South Australia's iconic Wilpena Pound (also known to the local Aboriginal people as Ikara). Today we explore the unique area that surrounds the Pound. We visit the famous Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges (also called the corridors through time) and view some of the oldest rock formations in the world. Search for the elusive Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies. Wildlife including Kangaroos, Emus and the bold Wedge Tailed Eagles are prolific in this rugged area. Travel back to Rawnsley Park via the spectacular Moralana Scenic drive following the south-western wall of Wilpena Pound. Settle down under millions of starsand enjoy your dinner and a cold beer or wine at our camp.

DAY 3

Travel to Melrose (the oldest town in the Flinders Ranges). Check out the historic buildings such as Bluey Blundstone's Blacksmith Shop. On our way home to Adelaide you will have the opportunity to experience one of the best wine regions in South Australia - The Clare Valley. Here you can have a taste of the fine local wines and produce. Arriving back in Adelaide you will have many memories to share with your family and friends about the Flinders Ranges& Outback 3 Day Mountain Safari with Heading Bush Adventures
